Flavor X Porter Dog Ruck – a backpack carrier for your Dog

Japanese bag brand Porter has made another pet product collaboration – this time with super-cool pet product design studio Flavor. Porter’s previous collab effort of a dog collar from streetwear designer Original Fake turned into a big hit. But this time around Porter has gone to their strength (bags) and designed a innovative dog carrier for the urban pup on the go. The “Dog Ruck” is a high quality backpack carrier made out of water repellent cloth and reinforced with double stitching. The interior includes a lead hook – to prevent unexpected jump-outs – as well as a padded bottom for the dogs comfort. For the smaller dogs there is also zipper netting to contain your pooch while out and about. While I don’t think I would hop on a motorcycle with my dog on board this way – it does offer a much easier method for moving around a city or traveling short distances. Currently the Flavor x Porter Dog Ruck is only available in Japan and it costs $460+USD (52,000 Yen). But with the ever expanding pet fashion marketplace in the US and Porter’s interest in producing cool dog products – it is only a matter of time before they make it to North America and Europe.

Collar and Leash Steez from OriginalFake

Streetwear has dipped it’s toes into the PupStyle pool with previous dog product efforts from the Billionaire Boys Club and Tokyo’s super-dope street label Anokha but now get ready as the rest of the Streetwear world get’s hip to the style vacuum in the pet space!

One of the leaders of the streetwear movement – Kaws has teamed up with Japanese label Porter to bring about the the Teeth design Collar and Leash. Originally offered exclusively through the Colette store in Paris they sold out within days. Now the remaining few are being offered through the OriginalFake Store in Japan as well as selected metropolitan stockists in the US (Union LA, Union NYC). Kaws has a history of offering up items for his four-legged fans – back in 2008 he released a chew toy designed to look like a dog turd(see photo below). We look forward to more releases for doggies in the future!

Smooth plastic dog “Woofy” hides messy cords

Why can’t you be more like Woofy? When searching for a role-model for your own pup – you can find none better than Woofy. This affable plastic pooch was created by handsome Argentine designer Gabriel Nigro (pictured below) as a clean and cute way to gather and hide all of those nasty power cords. The Worldwide reaction to Woofy has been overwhelming – with a majority of owners treating Woofy more like objet d’art rather than an electronics cord cozy. Sites have popped up with folks posting pictures of Woofy around the globe and Woofy with friends. The Japanese Woofy site is (naturally) the most obsessive and includes a photographic guide to discerning a “real” Woofy versus the numerous copycat versions. Woofy can be purchased through the Normann-copenhagen site devoted to all things Woofy and is available for $212.50 USD.

Doggie Dojo – Aijoaru2 hardwood dog house

Aijoaru2 hardwood Pet house Do not banish your pal to a dark and dreary “dog house”, instead style your pooch with a handmade, hardwood Aijoaru2 Pet house . Made of the finest hardwoods, this pet house features movable slats that allow light and air to circulate. Designed in the traditional “Snoopy-esque” dog house form this unit parts with tradition there and embraces a clean modern look for today’s contemporary styles. Aijoaru2 also offers other custom pet house styles, but they tend to look more like a grade-school stage prop than a refined MOMA permanant collection candidate.
