My obsession with shoes by Irregular Choice , a UK based Company is legendary. When I lived in Soho I was a regular at their now defunct boutique on Lafayette Street.

These babies would make James Gaylord Muir the first sales manager for Hush Puppies proud. Mr. Muir is responsible for the WWII slang phrase “my dogs are barking” after dining with one of his regional salesman over traditional southern hush puppies.

When Mr. Muir asked about the origin of the name of the southern appetizer he was told that farmers threw hush puppies at the hounds to “quiet their barking dogs.” Mr. Muir surmised that his shoes were so comfortable they could “quiet barking dogs” , the venacular for feet in those days.
