Mystery fashion blogger Luxirare is an internet fashion phenomena and a pet fashion aficionado. There is very little known about Ji Kim the force behind Luxirare (she obscures her face in all postings on the site) – but she does dote on her Maltese, Rocky. In a recent posting she documented the process of buying a children’s Adidas track suit and re-draping and re-sewing it to fit Rocky – Rocky x Adidas. Going from a two piece track suit the eventual outcome became a one-piece jumpsuit complete with a leash remade from an Adidas necklace. Luxirare may remain a mystery but we’ve got our eyes out for a white Maltese rocking a dope Adidas track suit!
If you caught our last write up about a new collar and leash set from Tory Burch just in time for Christmas – you’ll be excited to know that TBurch has done it again! This time she expands her doggie line to include coats. These cute little nylon coats sidestep embellishments and go for it with strong color. And with Poppy and Tangerine being tipped as the colors of the year for 2012 – Tory has another hit on her hands. The coats are offered in only one size (bummer) and come in Hot Orange and Love Pink. You can only buy them online thru the Tory Burch site (as we sadly found out in trying to hunt down the coat in person).
When I started PupStyle.com almost 10 years ago, my dream was to one day see pet fashion on the first floor of every major department store across America. Well this holiday season Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Home Goods are three major off-price retailers leading the charge! Just in my own holiday shopping travels I have noticed that they have expanded their pet aisles into a robust collection. I was astonished to learn that these stores receive over 10,000 new pet products a week! Now with national retailers carrying a wide selection of pet fashions and designs at insanely affordable prices the “PupStyling” of America can begin!
I found this really cute dog holiday dog sweater and scarf at Marshalls for $9.99! I love the lime green color mixed in with the traditional red and green to give it a modern twist. You know I am always a sucker for dog scarfs too!
In the hierarchy of “preppy” there are different degrees of authenticity; Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfigger, and others all dream of having the blue-blood, mayflower, ivy league pedigree that is held by J. Press. An ancient outpost of preppy dress seemingly built into the firmament around most Ivy League university towns – J. Press trumps them all when it comes to “old school” dresswear. And now thanks to a Japanese company CreativeYoko J. Press has entered the pet fashion marketplace.
J. Press is offering this preppy outfit that would make the perfect gentleman out of any pup. A well tailored checkered oxford shirt combined with a rep bowtie and this little fellow will be answering the door politely and taking the guests coats in no time! The button down shirt is made of pima Cotton and available in blue, black and pink checks for $58.00 and the rep bowtie is available in three traditional striped styles for $13.50.
Just like the human J. Press stores it takes a little bit of hunting to track down these coveted threads – there is only one US retailer Han Nari NY and they are located in the Roosevelt Mall in Queens NYC (not quite the ivy covered walls one would expect). To order these items you can email or call the Han Nari NY store or get in touch with them via the Han Nari NY Facebook page.

Major Couture Alert!!!
Dog fashion couture doesn’t get much fancier than the exquisite gowns created by Deni Alexander. Her dog designs are truly mind blowing in their level of detail. Each of Deni’s dresses have a keen sense of dramatic flair and over-the-top opulence that draws comparisons to Bravo TV’s star designer Chris March of Mad Fashion. The “Flight of Fancy Gown” is inspired by the 2011 Grammy Awards gown worn by international pop superstar Katy Perry. Deni and her assistant worked for over 8 weeks on this incredible canine couture creation.
The designers description reads “The white satin gown is trimmed with hand embellished hearts created from three shades of pale pink metallic fabric. Sixteen different types of Swarovski crystals were included in the design, the desire was to show a range of jewel tones swept along the entire width of skirt. The underskirt has ruching creating a cascading effect and is finished off with hand cut mirrors, and silk embroidery. The bodice of the gown features additional Swarovski Crystals in a heart pattern. The Wings for this gown are created from feathers and lace and pearl appliques. Another look was created by making inserts from two aurora borealis gems to take the place of the wings. The edge treatment and the neck ruff are created from hand finished iridescent multi-colored shades of pink organza. Each edge is finished in silk parti-colored pastel thread.”
If you have deep pockets in your dog fashion budget, this work of art can be yours for $2,000 directly from the designer. www.denialexanderdesigns.com
Worldwide adhesive tile artist Invader has been traveling around the globe leaving his pixelated mark wherever he goes. Started as a “reality game” where participants posted Space Invader-themed artwork in public spaces for “points” – the concept has grown beyond a clever idea into a full blown art career for the industrious Invader. This June 2011 he returns home to Paris for a solo art show titled “Invader 1000” in celebration of his 1000th Space Invader being posted on the streets of Paris.
If your dog fancies him or herself as a cutting-edge, guerrilla street artist they too can “get in the Invasion game” with a Space Invader Dog Sweater. This snazzy black and white jumper features the pixelated Space Invader and can help you amass tons of street-cred points with your hipster art snob pals. Handknit by Toronto-based Etsy seller KnitPurlGeekGirl and beautifully modeled by her muse Bella the bad Spella the Space Invader Sweater is available for $19.95 from her Etsy store.
When it comes to giving out the label of “dog fashion couture” we have pretty high standards here at PupStyle. This mind-blowing masterpiece created by former NYC theatrical costume designer, Deni Alexander has certainly earned the title of “couture”! This dress is hand crafted of the finest silks and tulle and embellished with Swarovski crystals. Deni hand dyed over 80 yards of tulle in four shades ranging from pale yellow to deep mahogany gold to create the sweeping “antebellum” skirt. The sleeves and stand up collar are made from silk organza.
This showpiece can be yours for $1,000 directly from the designer at Deni Alexander Designs.
