The Urban Lumber Jack fashion trend started by Brooklyn hipsters has now spread to dogs. Yes, your dog can match your favorite plaid flannel shirt so you both can look cool without going cheesy. What’s next dog Kombucha tea and no shave November for dogs?
Inspired by the simplicity and utility of the classic shirt jacket, Rover Boutique has designed the ideal coat to match your urban lumber jack cravings. Made from super warm mammoth flannel and faux shearling lining for extra comfort and warmth, this coat will keep your pooch hip and stylish.
This comes in sizes XS to XL so the big boys can hip and cool. All that’s needed is a beard and some nerd glasses and the look is complete $70.00.
Nothing barks PupStyle louder than chic winter gloves with dog in the palms of your hands. Walking your dog in style just got warmer thanks to TalkingGloves in Istanbul, Turkey. They hand craft these sassy accessories from a soft lambswool blend making them soft and toasty.
Most of the designs are unisex in style and color and both kids and adults love them. They make a great holiday gift and fashion piece. The minimalist dog shapes keep them looking clean and modern.
Pair these with a plaid or checked scarf and your favorite torn jeans and leather boots for a perfect fall/winter look! They also offer cat versions for the feline lovers out there so it’s easy one stop gift shopping.
The fingerless gloves are ideal for the multi tasking dog walker. You can keep a tight grip on the leash, easily pull out pick-up bags from your pocket and answer texts all while flawlessly drinking a latte.
A really special gift at $36 plus shipping and handling.
It’s said that it’s always better to stand out in a crowd then to just blend into it. So can’t the same thing be said for your dog? The answer is yes and your dog will for sure be the “dog” of the town while wearing a Holly & Lil handmade collar.
All eyes will be on your pooch when they are strutting down the streets or in the dog park wearing this Union Rose Flower dog collar! Not only is it adorable and fashionable at the same time, but it is made of calf leather so its durability can allow your dog to just be a dog.
I also can’t fail mention Holly & Lil’s handmade harnesses for dogs too! This particular harness is their UK Flag Leather harness which perfectly represents the home where Holly & Lil is located. All harnesses come in sizes small, medium and large. Harnesses are perfect for taking a stroll with your beloved dog.

The National Retail Federation estimates that American’s will spend a whopping $350 million this year on pet Halloween costumes. Finally the days are winding down when the neighbors call you the “crazy dog person” who dresses up their dog.
I am often asked this question “Dara, I can’t decide on what to dress my dog up as for Halloween. What is your advice?”
Tune into the Better Show October 28,2014 for my Halloween dog costume trends fashion show and tips for choosing the right costume. Check local listings for time, but in the mean time you can read my tips below to help you get started.
1. Age–older dogs are less likely to chew on a costume unlike a teething puppy who might turn it chew toy and possibly choke on materials.
2. Size & Shape-think about the size and shape of your dog. A large Yellow Lab or Bulldog might make a better Hamburger than a poodle.
3. Measure your dog carefully-Take careful measurements of your dogs chest, length of his body from base of neck to base of tail, weight, neck and waist. Be sure to compare your dogs measurements to the size chart on the costume. You would be surprised at how being one once off on your measurements and blow your entire costume idea.
4. Brush and groom your dog-Give your dog a through brushing before putting the costume on. It will reduce loose pet hair on the costume and your pooch will look extra spiffy!
